100 Words: Like Poetry

I move like poetry when I’m cooking. It's not so much in what I do or create-- I'm quite mediocre--but a feeling when I do it. I know where every spice and seasoning is in my cabinet, and move justly dropping in the perfect amounts. I feel exhilarated knowing the food is down to its last few minutes.

I plate each item. This is it, this is the moment: the taste-test. I take a bite and fall in love. Whether it's my creation or someone else's it tastes like art. Perhaps I just love food too much.

  1. I enjoyed this. I, too, enjoy cooking. I'm rusty at the moment, but I am always eager to hear what someone else thinks of what I made. Cooking has become easier for me, and it is now easier to dance about the kitchen, skirt around and grab appliances and utensils, knives and forks and gauges know, just *know* when something is finished. No clocks. No timers. Just grace.

  2. I totally get this, I love the feeling when I'm baking and it's going exactly right, or I've made up a dinner recipe for whatever's in my cupboard and it actually tastes respectable! Though the one thing that messes up that poetry is people moving things! Much as I love my housemates...

    1. Haha that's why I don't let anyone touch what's in the kitchen... If the kitchen is practically mine alone.

  6. No way you can never love food too much, well I guess some of us can. I really like how you painted a picture in this post using your words. Short, easy to read, but very vivid. Found you on 20sb, you wanted feed back so here I am. Also I think your hair in your display picture is very cute. Any ways you can find me here http://bbruabadfish2.blogspot.com/. I'm also trying to reach out to people and figure out if anything I have to say is worth saying. So far its just been crickets but I would love feedback especially from someone as verbose (but not in a bad way) as yourself. Also when I have more time I look forward to checking out some of the music you have posted, I love music.
