Not Exactly 100 Words: School

The things I have learned--and would rather remember--are pushed aside by classes I want to forget.

What did I learn about Freud? It is all clouded by rock clusters, pythagorean theorem, and ramblings of Andrew Jackson's odd behavior.

Sure, they all have their uses, but the knowledge feels mandated and irrelevant. I just want to move on--move on to something more personal to me.

  4. Ok, I have to confess that I found your blog some time ago, but I really had forgotten about it 'till now that I started writing my own blog and kinda found yours again.

My name's Carlos Díaz and I'm from Venezuela. I'm a High School English teacher, poet (I've posted more than 120 poems on my facebook), I also sing and I have plans for a radio show here in my country (it's hard to get one here in Venezuela) and now, I'm another fan of your blog!

God bless you and greetings from Venezuela!

  7. Oh how I understand how you feel. I just finished a sociology class and was like, HUH? It was fascinating, but not along my lines of interest.

Now I'm taking an English course on argumentative writing! Now THAT'S more like it :)

Of course, next term, it's math. Ugh and bleck. In that order.

    Have a great weekend!

Jen: I just got back from advising. I still have four more classes of my core to do and then I can FINALLY start my major, but I am wayyyyy pissed I still have four more of these stupid classes.

  13. Oh, would I sound completely aged if I confess those school days are way way behind me?

But learning is a continuous thing in life, it's amazing that I still manage to learn something new almost everyday of my life:)

    xx

  14. Very very true. And I agree 100%, it's just these courses I'm really not interested in that they're not only making me take, but making me spend money on.

  15. I feel the exact same way!! I wish I could put more energy into the classes I love and I feel are applicable to my post-graduation life, and career but I must spend so much time and thought on the required BS classes I hate. It's draining. I just want to focus on getting my portfolio ready. I sometimes wish school was seperated into smaller sections where you could focus on two classes at once for a few weeks versus giant semesters with tons of different crap that floods your brain and distracts you from really mastering any one subject.
